An evolving immersive environment shaped by the living presence of the Salish Sea.
The experience
Within the dreaming.
Illustration, marine photography, underwater film, sound and real-time systems come together as a living environment. Herring, salmon, birds and whales move through an interdependent continuum.
Squamish artist Austin Aan’yas Harry’s visual language is woven into this generative world. Led by Pravin Pillay, the work invites audiences to recognize themselves within ecological relationship.
From installation to dome
First presented as a proof of experience at Digital Ecologies on Salt Spring Island in April 2026, the work evolved into a prototype for Indigenomics IMPACT in May. Its next phase develops an immersive dome experience and place-based research into environmental sensing, spatial sound and audience-responsive systems.
Salish Sea Dreaming is also held within Gossamer Thread, MOVE37XR’s year-long Indigenous and intercultural curatorial capacity-building initiative.
