Gossamer Thread is MOVE37XR’s year-long Indigenous and intercultural curatorial and capacity-building initiative. An intercultural team of emerging and established curators and media artists interweaves mentorship, creation and exhibition of immersive and spatial work reflecting Indigenous, Indo-Canadian and diasporic practices through XR, sound, projection and installation.
Both an artwork and a curatorial framework, Gossamer Thread is an evolving collaborative installation by Pravin Pillay and colleagues. It expands through each exhibition site, integrating sonic and visual material from participating artists as a shared thread between distinct practices, venues and publics.

Salish Sea Dreaming
Presented at Digital Ecologies, INDIGENOMICS IMPACT 2026 and the MOVE37XR Immersive Symposium; an evolving work of image, sound and ecological relationship.
Performance installation
Forest Awakening
Presented at Beaver Point Hall on Salt Spring Island, exploring forest health through ecological data, sound, poetry and deep listening.
Anchor work
De-Fragmented
A sculptural and projection-based installation by Joshua Conrad that convenes Indigenous artists around belonging and cultural wayfinding. Supported for production, it appeared at IMPACT and will premiere at Victoria at Dusk before evolving at subsequent Gossamer Thread venues.
Projected outcomes
A transferable model for immersive arts
New and adapted works across public and dome-based environments; mentorship for emerging Indigenous and racialized curators; strengthened cultural and scientific partnerships; and curatorial documentation to inform future MOVE37XR work, including the 2027 Life at the Centre Festival.
